Finally Done Disconnecting! (7/26/2007)
Ok, after some breaks due to vacation and work, I was able to finish up the 'disconnection' phase of this project by removing the starter motor cover and disconnecting the starter wiring. Unfortunately, I ended up cutting the starter cover off. I had really wanted to try and save it, as it certainly kept a ton of gunk off the starter (look at how clean the nut holding on the wiring harness is!) but I just couldn't seem to maneuver it off..... Oh well.
Next steps are to purchase an engine hoist (I heard they are about $150 at Pep Boys, may look on-line as well) and make some room to actually remove the engine! Right now, I'm being overrun with ink cartridges (I rcollect and return them for my son's Boy Scout Troop) and other garage paraphernalia.......
Starter Cover

And removed!

Here's why I need to make some room....
